From September to April, the Cochlear Center presents monthly speakers with expertise in a variety of topics around sensory function, aging, and public health.
Generally, seminars are held the fourth Thursday of each month. There is no December seminar. Seminars are free and open to the public, and most are recorded for future viewing.
Seminars begin at 12:15 pm. Join in person in Baetjer Hall (W1030) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, 615 N Wolfe St, Baltimore, Maryland. There is usually a Zoom webinar option. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage and participate fully. CART services will be provided. Laptops are welcome at Cochlear Center events, and tables will be available. September 24, 2026 Erica Nybro, MPH, senior program officer, and August Summers, PhD, team lead for US-based initiatives, of the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, shared "What do you know about your hearing? How CCP uses social and behavior change communication to improve hearing health.” Watch the recording here.
- October 22, 2026: Cochlear Center core faculty, Assistant Professor Pablo Martinez Amezcua, MD, PhD, MHS will present a seminar that examines research around hearing loss, hearing aids, and physical aging.
