Alexa Balmuth is a second year Master of Science (ScM) student in the Department of Epidemiology's aging track. Her current research interests focus on hearing loss and cognitive decline. Prior to Johns Hopkins, Balmuth earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tulane University, then worked as researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's AgeLab, where she studied factors that promote individuals' social and emotional wellbeing throughout the aging process.
