Bio
Esther Oh, MD, PhD, is the Sarah Miller Coulson Human Aging Project Scholar and an Associate Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology (Department of Medicine) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She holds appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Neuropathology and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and is a core faculty member of the Cochlear Center on Hearing and Public Health. Oh is the co-director of the Johns Hopkins Memory and Alzheimer’s Treatment Center, co-director of the Johns Hopkins University Artificial Intelligence & Technology Collaboratory for Aging Research, Pilot Core A (AD/ADRD) and member of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Innovation Advisory Council.
Oh’s current work with the Cochlear Center includes examining the role of hearing loss and neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease with Carrie Nieman, MD, MPH, as co-PIs for an R01 from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) titled “Addressing Hearing Loss as a Common Unmet Contributor of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms.” She is also actively working with Nicholas Reed, AuD, examining the role of hearing loss in delirium in medical settings, for which Reed received a K23 career development award from the NIA.
An investigator for the Richman Family Precision Medicine Center of Excellence in Alzheimer's disease, Oh also serves as faculty on a T32 Health Services and Outcomes Research for Aging Populations (HSOR Aging) award and as an Affiliate for the Hopkins' Economics of Alzheimer’s Disease & Services (HEADS) Center. Oh is currently the president of the American Delirium Society.
